All sports activities are cancelled until October 19th
Hordur • October 8, 2020

The Executive Board of ÍSÍ recently agreed at its meeting to direct the sports movement in the capital area to comply with the recommendations of the Chief Epidemiologist and the Civil Protection Department of the National Commissioner of Police. They are asked to pause training and competition in all sports from today until October 19. They are also asked to postpone competition trips abroad.

  • We encourage everyone in the capital area to stay at home as much as possible.
  • Do not travel to or from the capital area unless absolutely necessary.
  • Let's protect vulnerable groups and limit visits to individuals in risk groups as much as possible.
  • Limiting the number of people in stores – one person should shop from home if possible.
  • Those hosting events in the capital area are encouraged to postpone them
  • Clubs, choirs, running groups, cycling groups and other groups that come together will pause their activities.
  • All places in the capital area where the public is on business should tighten all their quarantine measures, limit numbers as much as possible, ensure that everyone can disinfect their hands upon entry, disinfect touch surfaces, and ensure that social distancing can be respected
  • Sports clubs in the capital area are suspending training and competition in all sports.
  • Sports clubs in the capital area are postponing competition trips abroad.
  • Anyone experiencing even the slightest symptoms should stay home, get tested, and consider themselves in isolation until a negative test result is available.
  • Everyone in the capital area and beyond needs to join us in this effort and take extra care in the coming weeks.

It is also pointed out that recommendations regarding travel to or from the capital area also apply to practitioners and other participants in sports activities.
