Representatives of Fylki, Ármann and KR welcome the proposal by Björn Gíslason, a city council member for the Independence Party, which will be presented to the city council on Tuesday, October 18, regarding the city's support for the work of these clubs in the field of e-sports. This is an extremely important issue that affects many children and teenagers who are practitioners of the clubs' e-sports departments.
The organization of e-sports aims to offer well-organized and rewarding exercises for young people with the goal of training practitioners to have a healthy relationship with video game play.
The work teaches practitioners to recognize computers as tools and not as masters, to enhance their social skills and to try to prevent social isolation for those who play alone at home. There is also a strong emphasis on exercise and education.
The structure of sports clubs is very well suited to e-sports activities and there has been great satisfaction among practitioners and administrators with the work. Many individuals who were not previously involved in organized work are now active participants, which is great news.
