I love two things about KR

Next Sunday we have the Icelandic champions KR visiting. A home game against KR has always held a big place in my mind. It doesn't hurt that they are the reigning champions in the Pepsi Max league and have been doing well so far and we have also started the tournament well.

When good guests arrive, the best of the best is often picked from the barn and lavishly served. That's what it will be like on Sunday. We will blow the whistle and open the FANZONE at the east end of Fylkishallar where warm-ups and face painting will take place. The scouts will be ready with a bouncy castle and candyfloss and the club will sell various merchandise. The barbecues will be in place and the Thai restaurant Rakang will have a booth. Tjörnes is planning to do some refreshing warm-up songs and soccer games will be in charge of the younger group coaches.

Many fun memories can be linked to these games. At the beginning of the century, we did well with KR at home. In 2000, we played one less from the 28th minute but managed to draw 1-1, but Fylki's goal was scored by Gylfi Einar. In 2001, we won KR in the opening game of the Landsbanki League 1-0 with a goal from Steingrímur heitn Jóhannesson. Then came the fateful game in 2002. That game ended 1-1 with goals from Ómar Valdimarsson and the man who cannot be named in Árbær and KR kept their title hopes alive. The following year, we won 2-1 after Siggi Raggi had put them ahead early in the game. Goals from Haukur Ingi and Björn Viðar secured our victory. KR coach, Willum Þór Willumson, was going to try the same trick as the year before, bringing on the man who cannot be named in Árbær in the closing minutes of the game, but it didn't work. In 2004, a wonderful 3-1 victory came with two goals from Gústi Breiðdalur and one from Val Fannar, while Arnar Gunnlaugs put the Westfjords on the scoresheet. Then we had a few lean years against the mother of all clubs in Iceland. We last won KR at home in 2012 with goals from Emil Ásmundsson, who has now joined KR, Ingimundur Níels and Björgólfur Takefusa, both of whom have played for KR. The only players who played in this game and are still playing for their teams are, apart from Emil, who has had a change of players and is injured, Ásgeir Eyþórsson, who came on as a substitute and for KR, Aron Bjarki Jósepsson and Atli Sigurjónsson.

But as the title says, there are two things I love about KR. The first is winning them and the second is how diligent KR fans are in attending away games and supporting their team. They are a role model in this area. That's why every game against KR is a big one in my mind and that's what it will be next Sunday as well.

As we welcome all KR fans to the Lautarferð at Wurth Stadium, we would like to remind you that there is parking at the church, but it is only a 5-minute walk from there to the stadium. We also encourage all spectators to use the STUBB app to buy tickets.

Let's arrive on time and enjoy the atmosphere of this great match in Icelandic football.
