From the Fylki Sports Club due to the COVID-19 coronavirus

The Board of Directors of the Icelandic Football Association today approved a proposal by Chairman Björn Gíslason to draw special attention to the Chief Epidemiologist's guidelines regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus. Players, coaches, department boards and club administrators are encouraged to follow the latest updates regarding definitions of risk areas. Those considering traveling should familiarize themselves with all information regarding infection areas on the website of the Icelandic Medical Director. The club advises everyone associated with the club to follow the Chief Epidemiologist's recommendations regarding quarantine due to the virus if members have been in defined risk areas. It is recommended that those who have recently been in these risk areas go into fourteen-day quarantine and contact the Medical Emergency Department at 1700 or their health center. It is important to keep in mind the impact that government actions in high-risk areas may have on travel plans and to monitor news closely, both locally and on the website of the Directorate of Health, as definitions of areas with persistent infection can change rapidly.

 

 

It is recommended that practitioners, trainers and others involved in the work of the club pay close attention to personal hygiene (hand washing, tissues for sneezing or coughing). The risk of infection can be easily reduced by taking good care of your personal hygiene. Hand washing and general hygiene around the eyes, nose and mouth are key to avoiding infection and reducing the number of transmission routes.

 

 

The Fylkir Sports Association will closely monitor developments and respond to recommendations received from the authorities.   

It is important that practitioners' guardians follow the guidelines that have been issued.

The company has issued an order to trainers to avoid unnecessary contact between practitioners and employees.

Also, coaches urge athletes to wash their hands regularly.

 

"It is important that we all work together to minimize the impact of the virus. Let's follow the instructions of professionals and civil protection and follow the news closely. I agree with the Director of Health and say: Civil protection is with us all," says Björn Gíslason, chairman of the County Executive Board.
