The Fylkir Sports Club wishes all members and their families a Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year. Thank you for your support in the past years.
On December 31st, the selection of the Fylkir Sportswoman and Sportsman for 2019 will be announced. The ceremony will take place in Fylkir Hall and will begin at 12:00. All members are encouraged to attend, but in addition to the selection of the club's athletes, medals of honor will be awarded to those who have done selfless work for the club. Coffee and cakes will be served. We also encourage everyone to attend the Fylkir Fireworks Sale and the Scouts in the stands between Christmas and New Year and thereby support a good cause.

The nominees for the State Sportswoman of the Year are:

Margrét Einarsdóttir – Handball player
Margrét was born in 2000 and has practiced handball at Fylkir from a young age.
Last season, and so far this season, Margrét has been a key player and leader in the Fylkir team, she is a role model for other players on and off the field, as Fylkir fields a very young and promising team. The team plays in the Grill 66 women's league and Margrét has been the team's best player so far this season and has been the league's best goalkeeper.
Margrét has been part of all of Iceland's junior national teams in recent years and has participated in qualifying competitions and training tournaments with junior national teams.
Margrét is a good team member and takes an active part in the league's work, fundraising and other work. She is a mature individual who wants to achieve far and puts in a lot of effort.
In addition to playing with Fylkir, Margrét has also coached junior teams with good success in recent years.

Iveta Ivanova – Karate
Iveta Ivanova is on the national team of the Icelandic Karate Association and has been there for 6 years or since she was 12 years old. Iveta is a coach at the Fylkis karate department and is highly regarded by other professionals in the department. Iveta has maintained our club activities and organized events related to the club with great honor. Iveta took a black belt in Sportkarate this year, the youngest of anyone in the world since the founding of Sportkarate, but the style was founded 15 years ago.
Iveta's success is no slouch either:
1st place Rehin Shiai in -53 kg.
1st place Reykjavík Games (RIG) in junior open.
1st place Ishoj in u21 -55 kg
2nd place Ishoj in senior (adult) -55 kg
2nd place Small National Championship in senior -55 kg
3rd place Small National Championship in senior open
Icelandic champion in the women's open category
3rd place bansai cup u21 -55 kg
3rd place bansai cup senior -55 kg
Iveta is an inspiration to the rest of us and has shown us that anything is possible if the will is there.

Katharina Sybilla Jóhannsdóttír – gymnastics
Katarina started practicing gymnastics at Fylkis in 2012 and has since achieved great success.
She was selected for the Icelandic national team in 2014 and has participated in many competitions for Iceland and Fylki.

2015- Nordic Championships
2016- European Championships
Nordic Championships (3rd place in team competition and 6th place on floor)
Northern European Championships (6th place in team competition)
2019- Icelandic Championships (Icelandic Champion on floor and 5th place on bars)
Autumn Championships (1st place on bars and 2nd place on floor)

Katarina was selected this year for the Icelandic national team for 2020 and her next goal is to compete at the European Championships in Paris. She is a great role model for younger athletes as she has put in a lot of effort to achieve this great result.
Cecilía Rán Rúnarsdóttir – Soccer
Cecilía is a goalkeeper for the Fylkis championship team that plays in the top division. The team achieved great success last year and finished in 6th place. Cecilía played a big part in that success with her great performance.
Despite her young age, which she turned 16 this year, she has come a long way.
She was selected for the Icelandic A national team this year, which is exceptional for such a young player.
She also achieved the significant milestone of being selected for all Icelandic national teams this year.
Cecilía is a great role model and has coached the club's junior teams.

The nominees for the State Sportsman of the Year are:

Valdimar Þór Ingimundarson – Football
Valdimar was a key player in the county's championship team that played in the top division this year and had a very good season. He is one of the more promising players in the country and attracted a lot of attention this summer.
Valdimar was selected for the U21 Icelandic national team and played with it this year.
Valdimar is a very attacking player and always creates a big threat when he has the ball.
In addition to scoring a lot, he sets up a lot of goals for his teammates.
Valdimar is a good role model for younger players and has also coached the club's younger teams.

Ólafur Engilbert Árnason – Karate
Ólafur is on the national team and has been a regular there since he was 14 years old.
Ólafur has been a practitioner at Fylkir since he was a child and has contributed a lot to our training and strategy in recent years.
Ólafur is currently in Denmark studying where he trains with the Danish national team under the guidance of Allan Busk, who is a former Icelandic national team coach.
Ólafur competes in the most difficult men's category in kumite (freestyle fighting), which is -75kg, and has been competing against the best in the world.
Óla's results this year are not bad:
1st place Banzai Cup Senior -75 kg, Germany, this is the first time an Icelander has won this tournament.

3rd place Ishøj in open category Denmark
3rd place Danish Championship in Senior -75 kg

1st place Small National Championship in team competition
2nd place Icelandic Championship in -75 kg
1st place Icelandic Championship in open category.
